Twice a year the Carson Valley Quilt Guild hosts a nationally known quilt educator for a weekend workshop and a lecture at the following Monday night meeting. Class fees are quite reasonable for both members and non-members of the guild. It’s a unique opportunity to learn new quilting techniques from experts, enhance skills, and share the love of quilting and creating. The workshops and lectures are open to guild members and the public when space is available. We’d love for you to join us! A new Workshop Policy is in place now, and those signing up for classes should read it carefully. You can download the pdf (below) to read at your leisure.
Once again the Guild will be hosting two nationally known teachers. March 24 and 25, 2024 David Sirota will join us with two online Zoom classes and will follow up with a lecture on March 26. David is a nationally known quilter from Manchester New Hampshire. We will be using traditional quilt patterns to learn his "No More Tears"© method of paper piecing. His method makes paper piecing easy to learn, faster and fun.
Back in the 90s when David was learning various quilting techniques, he was "immediately drawn to . . . paper piecing." He says, "I thought it was so cool because of the intricte and accurate results you get. The only drawback was that it was difficult to wrap my brain around, kinda like upside down and backwards. Once I got it, the results were quite exciting."
"The method has been so successful that I'm now part of the Mancuso Show Management faculty teaching all over the country. And...I've been a featured guest on "The Quilt Show" with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims."
On September 21 and 22, 2024 Jean Impey will join us for two workshops and a lecture on September 23. We have not made our choices for classes yet, but in the meantime, check out Jean’s website - https://sewjean.com.
Materials lists and registration materials will appear here as time for class sign ups draws near.
